ABOUT NOBEOKA
BAMBOO SHOOTS
Bamboo shoots are familiar to the Japanese mainly as a topping for ramen noodles. More than 99% of them are using Hemp Bamboo, a variety of bamboo shoots found in Taiwan and China. Nobeoka Bamboo Shoots are 100% domestically inhabited “Moso Bamboo”, which is native to Nobeoka. It was developed as a solution to the neglected bamboo forests in Nobeoka-city.
Nobeoka-city has 80% of its area covered by forests. Abandoned bamboo forests have been an issue, since fast-growing bamboos block sunlight entering into the forests and stop the growth of trees. Bamboo forests with shallow roots can also cause landslides. To tackle these issues, we have started a project to reborn abandoned bamboo forests into luscious seasoned bamboo shoots.
No matter how beautiful the activity is, it is fruitless if the product bears no taste. Nobeoka Bamboo Shoots was developed in pursuit of a taste that we truly believe is delicious. It features the gentle crunch of bamboo shoots from Nobeoka and the spicy flavor made with Nobeoka miso. Be careful, you will soon be addicted to it.
